Soldered MCP23017 MicroPython Library

IO Expander MCP23017 Breakout
IO Expander MCP23017 Breakout (opens in a new tab)

This I2C GPIO expander adds 16 fully configurable digital I/O pins to a microcontroller using just two wires. Each pin can be set as input, output, or pull-up input, sinks/sources up to 25mA (enough to drive LEDs directly), and the board is 3.3V/5V tolerant. Up to eight boards can be chained via I2C address jumpers for 128 additional pins total. Includes a Qwiic connector for solder-free integration.

How to install

After installing the mpremote package (opens in a new tab), install the library on your board using the following command:

  mpremote mip install github:SolderedElectronics/Soldered-MCP23017-MicroPython-Library

Or, if you're running a Windows OS:

python -m mpremote mip install github:SolderedElectronics/Soldered-MCP23017-MicroPython-Library
