Soldered Inputronic-GRID MicroPython Library

Note: this board is not yet released.

The Inputronic GRID is a 4x4 button + LED pad. It communicates over I2C (default address 0x30) with an onboard ATtiny microcontroller, which scans the 16 buttons and drives 16 individually-addressable RGB LEDs (one per button). Buttons can be read individually, by grid position, or all at once as a 16-bit bitmask; LEDs can be set individually, as a batch by bitmask, or all at once, with adjustable brightness. The I2C address is field-changeable and persisted to EEPROM, for daisy-chaining multiple GRID boards.

How to install

After installing the mpremote package (opens in a new tab), install the library on your board using the following command:

  mpremote mip install github:SolderedElectronics/Soldered-Inputronic-GRID-MicroPython-Library

Or, if you're running a Windows OS:

python -m mpremote mip install github:SolderedElectronics/Soldered-Inputronic-GRID-MicroPython-Library

Repository Contents

  • InputronicGrid.py - MicroPython driver class (I2C)
  • package.json - mip install manifest
  • /Examples - button reading, LED control, and I2C address change examples
